We’ve inaugurated an interactive discussion forum on important issues in integrative mental health to coincide with the official launch of our website. After logging in with your user name and password simply click on “Practitioners” in the Menu bar at the top of the homepage, then select “forum.” Once inside you can search archived postings, read or reply to postings in an on-going discussion thread, ask a question or start a new discussion topic. Four boards are now on-going:
Practical Strategies in Integrative Mental Health. Hosted by James Lake. The focus of this board is on developing practical clinical methods for planning integrative assessment and treatment approaches addressing common mental health problems.
The Healer’s Journey hosted by Sue Towey, Judith Pentz, Pam Pappas, Hyla Cass, & James Lake. The focus of this board is on integrative mental health care for post-graduate students and professionals in all areas of mental health care including psychology, nursing, social work and psychiatry.
Natural Products in Mental Health Care hosted by Hyla Cass, Judith Pentz, Scott Shannon, Jerome Sarris. This board focuses on evidence-based uses of natural products in the treatment of common mental health problems including herbal medicinals, essential fatty acids, vitamins and other natural products. The emerging paradigm of functional medicine will be an important part of this discussion board including assessment of urinary and serum neurotransmitter metabolites, and evidence-based uses of amino acids and other natural products.
Mind Body Medicine hosted by Chanel Helgason, Sue Towey, Toby Fischel, Mark Gilbert. The focus of this ongoing board is on many uses of mind-body approaches, including stress management, relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga/breathwork, hypnosis, imagery, movement, and others. We plan to host topic bursts on the applications of mind-body techniques for specific mental illnesses and for chronic and life-threatening illnesses, as well as general health applications in the workplace.

Homeopathy hosted by Pam Pappas. This board will focus on the theory and practice of homeopathy in understanding and treating mental health conditions, embedded in a whole-system approach to health, healing and resilience.
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine hosted by Jingduan Yang. The focus of this board is on uses of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of common mental health problems
Indigenous Mental Health Care hosted by Lewis Mehl-Madrona. The focus of this board is indigenous healing practices in mental health care from the perspectives of narrative neuroscience, psychotherapy and community mental health programs.
Transforming Mental Health Care also hosted by Lewis Mehl-Madrona. This board will focus on emerging trends and values that are driving the transformation of mental health care toward an increasingly integrative model
Spiritualty and Mental Health hosted by Judith Pentz. The focus of this board is broadly spirituality in mental health care especially the role of spirituality in the clinician’s life and practice.
